The school takes place at:

St Bees School
St Bees, Cumbria
CA27 0DS

When to arrive

You should aim to arrive mid-to-late afternoon on Sunday 24th July. Registration for the school will take place in the Management Centre ("B" on the map), as shown on this map. Report here on arrival to collect the key for your room. You will be greeted at a reception in the Dining Room at 7.30pm at which an evening meal buffet will be served.

By road:

Turn off the M6 at Junction 40 on to the A66 to Keswick. Then take the A595 to Whitehaven. St. Bees is clearly signposted off the A595, three miles beyond Whitehaven and 47 miles from Junction 40. Our advice is not to follow Sat Nav instructions as this will bring you a convoluted route through the lake district and over a number of Fells.

By rail:

St. Bees has its own railway station on the Carlisle to Barrow line operated by Northern Rail. Carlisle is on the main West Coast line run by Virgin trains. Carlisle to Euston, London takes just over four hours while Carlisle to St. Bees takes just under the hour.

IMPORTANT NOTE

However, unfortunately there are no train services on Sunday! We will arrange for a shutlle service from Whitehaven to the school. Please indicate the estimated arrival time in the registration form, so that we can plan the busses. We will annonunce the departure times of the shuttle later. So watch this space!

By air:

The biggest airport in North-West England is Manchester. Trains to Manchester, Preston and beyond depart from The Station which is located between Terminals 1 and 2. See above for information about how to reach St Bees by train.

Other large UK airports that allow access to the West Coast main line include Glasgow and Birmingham. Those starting from really exotic locations may have no option but to travel via London Heathrow.

When to leave

The school finishes at 3pm on the last day (Friday 5th August).
